Whether you're backpacking backcountry or camping with the kids, Big Agnes has award-winning tents, sleeping bags and pads just right for you. Wonder why we called our company Big Agnes? The answer you receive depends on who you talk with and the mood we're in.
Honestly, it's either a rocky peak in the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness Area outside Steamboat Springs, a laid back mountain town mama or dependable backcountry gear. We think it represents a little bit of each and everything in between.
We've spent a lot of time in the local backcountry so we feel downright connected to it. We name our products after local history, places, peaks and rivers which is always a fun process. It brings back memories of trips both successful and epic and hopefully inspires you to come explore.
Big Agnes Fits Big MenBy: James Sanki on 23 January 2018I've been searching for a lightweight tent to take hiking, but my biggest concern has been finding a tent large enough for me. I'm 6'3, 94kgs with an athletic build. I was originally looking at the Nemo Hornet 2p, however after reading reviews online I thought it may have been a little too small. The Big Agnes Copper HV UL 2 is exactly what I needed. It is long enough for me with extra to spare. Although I will mostly use this tent for solo adventures, the option to have company is welcome. To test what this was like I had my brother join me inside for a few minutes to see the available space. My brother is also over 6ft tall. We had plenty of room to sleep. Bags would almost certainly have to go outside though. The ceiling room is plentiful and we were both comfortable. I warn that there is not a whole heap of width to this tent, so I hope you don't mind getting cosy! I will be interested to see how well these small zips hold up over time. I did already notice that they easily catch on the material around them, so be careful. My biggest disappointment is how thin and uninspiring the base of the tent is. I can't imagine anyone would have the confidence to use this tent without purchasing the footprint. It lost a point under Durability for this reason. Another $100+ for the footprint is highway robbery. I deducted a point from Value for this reason. It lost a 2nd point in Value due to the already high cost. Excellent lightweight, spacious design. Also suprised at how unobtrusive the lights are. 5/5 there. Would definitely recommend they make the lights brighter in future models. Thank you WildEarth for the incredible service and fast delivery!
BEST TENT EVER - Hikers best friendBy: Tamara McGain on 14 August 2017I purchased this tent for my 15 year old son who has developed a love of hiking and camping out - I went with a cheaper tent in the first instance and regretted it, then we upgraded to the Copper Spur HV UL2. Best decision ever; it is so light and roomy; you can honestly fit 4 teenagers in it playing cards and not feel crowded AND it weighs less than 2kg. Would highly recommend this tent as an investment you will not regret.
Big Agnes excellenceBy: Michael on 14 March 2017Have only put this tent up in the lounge so far, but am impressed with how easy it unpacks and goes up, totally intuitive, no instructions needed. Inside is spacious, the vertical walls make it seem bigger than it actually is. Will fit 2 people comfortably but you wont be able to fit your packs in at the same time, lucky the generous vestibules will take care of that. The doors on each side also mean each occupant can access the tent and their own stuff without imposing on their tent mate. And it weighs nothing! Delivery was also super quick and easy.
Big Agnes Copper Spur Ultralight 2By: Stuart Barry on 28 November 2016Great tent from a weight-for-features point of view and for ease of set up. Lightweight means the floor needs to be taken car of (use footprint in bad areas) but otherwise there is no penalty for the 1,47kg weight. The tent is quick and EASY to put up - so important at the end of a long day of hiking - nothing fiddly - all simple. Withstands high winds quite well for a 3-season tent too.
fabulousBy: patricia on 17 October 2016The free standing design on this is fantastic, the fast fly set up even better!!! Was Tossing up between this and the sea to summit duo (never tried by the way) but im glad I got this one as it has so many great featured and is worth the extra pack weight. Love the mountain glow feature, so no lantern required can drop weight there in my pack. Only down side, the pack size is pretty dam big, be prepared to reorganise it into packing cubes/ smaller stuff sacks and seperate or put on the outside of Ur pack. Love the rainbow doors and double vestibule features plus the gear pockets that are sewn into the tent. Its big enough for 2 ppl too, as long as they dont mind a bit of cosying up. Huge amount of room length ways. Could fit 2 single regular (not mummy cut) mats in side by side
