Choosing a climbing rope
We love the exhilaration and sense of achievement that comes from scaling a new peak. Here are our tips for choosing a climbing rope that will help you reach new heights:
Choose your rope based on your climbing activity.
The better suited your rope is to the climb, the more safe you’ll be. But what is the difference between climbing ropes?
Climbing ropes come in two forms: static and dynamic.
Dynamic climbing ropes are designed with greater elasticity to absorb the impact of a sudden fall more slowly, making them perfect for rock climbing, ice climbing and mountaineering.
Static ropes are used primarily for rope ascension, as they stretch very little.
For peace of mind, we recommend hitting the crags with a climbing rope from a trusted brand like Edelrid, Beal and Bluewater. These brands are well-known among professional and recreational climbers for their durability and strength.
