Solid performerBy: Pete on 18 April 2019I bought this two person version to use with another 3 person Companion. This is a very usable tent for hiking as it is not overly heavy and provides considerable protection for a 3 season. Used for 8 years in snow, for hiking and for general camping. This tent has also been used for numerous school camps (hard work for any tent), but has lasted well with only a few small holes in the mesh, and has maintained waterproofness. Zips are still fine. Comes with good poles and lightweight pegs. All in all this tent is a good bang for buck choice.
Companion Pro Hiker 2 TentBy: Nicholas Lawson on 22 March 2019Great, great, great little tent. Fantastic value. Not the ultra-lightest but super easy to set up, sturdy and awesome.
My first and favourite hiking tent.By: John Hogan on 29 May 2018This was my first hiking tent but it's become my main tent! It goes up in a few minutes despite having to thread the poles through the sleeves. Those sleeves give significantly more stability in wind... They're worth it. I've done over 150 nights in mine in the last 5 or 6 years, mainly within 250km of Brisbane but also Tasmania and places in between. I consider it too bulky for solo hiking but with the weight split it's good. And that higher weight means much more durable materials. Mine has had one tiny roof leak in all this time and a lot of heavy rain. The floor leaks but I never protected it from new. I've bought two lighter tents but this is the best one for most of my missions. It's cavernous with me and a 100cm roll up mattress. Not crowded with two XL hiking mattresses. Unless it's like a week of sailing, I can't be bothered taking my big tent any more. Doors could be bigger and newer designs have more interior volume and more vertical sides but this thing is stronger and can take more weather than any other 3 season design I've seen. I've been so happy with mine.
Good value and functionality - Just the right 2 peBy: Neil Brodie on 3 October 2017The Companion Pro Hiker 2 person tent is a great choice if your budget is limited. There are tents of similar design that are lighter and pack smaller, but they are all significantly more expensive than the Companion Pro Hiker 2. So for the sake of an extra 1kg and perhaps a litre of pack space (which doesn't really matter if you carry the tent externally), you get a well designed tent that is sturdy and made of quality materials. It comfortably accommodates two people with plenty of headroom and pack storage space in the dual vestibule areas, and is very simple to erect and pack-up.
