Marmot Catalyst 2PBy: Merryn Coutts on 1 October 2017Great structural integrity, in windy conditions. Good ventilation, but a little cool on nights below 5 degrees with a breeze, as air comes in at ground level. Lots of vestibule space for shoes, etc. Easy to put up and pack down by a single person. Could do with stronger pegs (1 out of 6 already bent in first week of use), and enough pegs to guy tent out in strong winds (10 needed, not just 6 for basic set up).
Marmot catalyst 2P tent reviewBy: Darlington Brian on 31 July 2017Wife put the tent up without knowing the instructions were sewn into the inside of the tent package, so it passed the install test. Just make sure you match up the red tabs as the fly is asymmetrically. We bought two compression packs (1 for the fly, the other for the tent) to reduce the space the tent told up. I have 50L pack & needed to place the pole package externally because the curved the poles are long (even when folded) Also picked up two extra pegs so we could peg out the bottom of the fly. This had been recommended to help the air flow under the fly & reduce condensation. Tested last weekend (5C min to 20C max ) & found the tent warm even with the fly open at the front and back but no condensation. The rear door is full nylon & therefore we kept closed to kept the bugs out. I expect in summer we will go without the fly & only use the fly in inclement weather. The internal pockets are small and there is only two but there is provision for a loft which we will be investing in. The vestibules are very serviceable but the fly does stop short of the ground, good for airflow but your gear can be a bit exposed. Regardless of some of the short comings mentioned above we're happy with the purchase and can see years of faithful use
