A decent light tent for a reasonable price.By: Ronald on 2 October 2018This tent is about 1kg, which isn't as light as they come, but not bad for the price. It's a bit low at each end but ok in the centre, has decent vents and space for some gear to one side. It's well braced, easy to setup. Just peg each end, insert the pole and secure the lines and I'm thinking it could handle a fair bit of wind. Pack up is simple, the stuff is oversized. It seems well made but will see how durable it is. Like all light gear it needs careful handling to last.
Passed Extreme Weather TestsBy: Tassie backpacker on 26 October 2017I have rigorously tested this tent over the last 1.5 yrs in Tasmania's wild weather. This tent stands firm in exposed 30+ kph sustained winds all day long, including multiple 80 kph gusts. It has also stood firm in sheltered conditions when winds above the scrub officially exceeded 100 kph. On multiple occasions it has endured 8-12 hours of straight rain without leaking (except the tent floor, which, like all other tents, gets moist (but not pools of water) in excessively wet conditions). It has endured squalls of hail and snow and stays standing and doesn't leak. It is very warm for a 3 season tent, and I've had no problems on multiple occasions camped around 1000-1200 m in Tasmanian autumn and spring conditions with snow, frost and icy conditions. I have been perfectly cosy in temperatures just below freezing. I love being able to pitch the fly and tent all in one--quick, easy--although camping on platforms is a little more difficult than other tent configurations. The only negatives about this tent are as follows: In hot, calm conditions it can get quite stuffy and hot. Ventilation isn't terribly great, so unless it's raining, I usually sleep with an open slit in the fly door for more ventilation and it's OK. Good size and weight for backpacking. Trying to reattach the fly after separating it from the tent to dry it is a bit difficult and confusing, but with practise you figure out how it all goes. At 5'5" tall, I can easily fit my backpack inside my tent for the night. Overall rating--4.5 stars. The negatives are only little things you can easily put up with. The positives are really excellent and well outweigh the negatives. This tent is ideal for a 3 season alpine camping and cooler climates. It would not be a very good hot weather or warm climate choice.
