Made in Europe.
When Hilleberg first introduced the Akto nearly 20 years ago, they didn't know that it would become as popular as it has. Although only slightly heavier than a bivy bag, the Akto offers near-luxury, all-season shelter for the solo traveler – lodging that includes a vestibule and a packed size small enough to fit into a side pocket on many packs.
It’s an ideal choice any time you need the lightest weight, all season solo tent, and while it was not designed for extreme use, it has proven itself on extended polar expeditions, and so will stand up well to all conditions. Hikers, climbers, bicycle tourers and sea kayakers alike have embraced its lightweight roominess, and today it is being used in every clime, all over the world. Long distance backpackers especially appreciate having a sturdy, comfortable room of their own at the end of a long day on the trail. Trekkers find it excellent lightweight accommodation insurance for when traditional lodging in far flung places is overcrowded, overpriced, or unavailable. And tall users find it one of the few solo tents available that has enough room.
For over 45 years, Hilleberg the Tentmaker has specialized in doing only one thing and doing it well – building the highest quality tents and shelters available. Conceived and developed in northern Sweden, Hilleberg tents are made in Europe, built to last, and offer the ideal balance of high strength, low weight, ease of use, and remarkable comfort. Hilleberg tents have been – and remain – the choice of polar and Himalayan expeditions, military special forces units, and discerning outdoor adventurers the world over. They are the go-to choice both for those who travel deep into the backcountry, in all conditions, and require tents that are utterly dependable, no matter what, as well as for those who just want a tent that will last. Founded in 1971 by Bo and Renate Hilleberg, the company is still family-owned and run. The company owns and operates its own European factory, which makes only Hilleberg products, and every tent is set up and inspected to ensure the ultimate in quality and reliability.
Hilleberg Tents are the first choice of discerning outdoor adventurers the world over.
My Hilleberg AktoBy: Terrylea Reynolds on 4 August 2019Just unpacked and set my new tent up in the backyard. Instantly impressed by the quality of this tent. The strength of the guy lines, the highly durable material used at all connecting points, the strength of the floor. Just what I was after. Can't wait tho take it on my overnight snow shoeing trip in 3 weeks. One very happy customer.
Man's second best friend is a Hilleberg. My dog isBy: Chuck on 10 July 2019My best advice with a new Hilly is to practice setting it up a few times before you go trekking. You'll pick up some little tricks and sort out the process making it easy in case you are in bad weather on future attempts. Love it's simplicity. One pole, 2 minute set up and very solid. Take 10 pegs and us them all for the bad weather set up. I spent multiple night in -10 degree nights with a hard ice frost come the morning. I was cosy and my 63L pack just fit with room to exit. Even with the small space there wasn't heaps of condensation inside. I opened the small door vent and vented the fly. Recommend this tent to anyone wanting a simple, stout and quality investment.
