6. Events and community

Wild Earth sponsors trail running and ultra events across Queensland, runs a monthly community run club, and hosts the Wild Chats podcast. Events are run by partner organisers, mainly Run Queensland and Trail Trips & Events, so registration and race details live on the organiser's site.

Events we sponsor

  • Beerwah @ Night: a night trail run around the base of Mt Beerwah in the Glass House Mountains, Sunshine Coast hinterland. Runners wear headlamps, and it's a good first taste of trail running in the dark. Several distances. Run by Run Queensland, usually late January.
  • Raw Challenge: a muddy obstacle course event in the Numinbah Valley, Gold Coast hinterland, with adult courses of around 5 km and 9 km packed with obstacles, plus a shorter youth course. Usually held more than once a year.
  • Wild Earth In the Raw: a trail run based at the Raw Challenge property in the Numinbah Valley, with 25 km and 15 km courses plus shorter 4 km and 9.3 km options. Expect creek crossings, a big climb and fast single track. The first race of the Triple Crown series, usually late May.
  • Wild Earth Yandina Five 'O': a trail run on the Sunshine Coast hinterland near Yandina, with 50 km, 36 km, 21 km and 12 km courses through Mapleton National Park and private land. Based at Terella Brewing. Run by Run Queensland, usually mid-year.
  • Wild Earth Border Bolt: a trail race from Currumbin into the hinterland trails along the QLD/NSW border. Part of the Triple Crown series.
  • Wild Earth Coastal High: 28 km and 50 km trail races from Binna Burra to Springbrook through Lamington and Springbrook National Parks, Gold Coast hinterland. Part of the Triple Crown series, usually late August.
  • Wild Earth Blackall 100: a trail ultra across the Blackall Range in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, with 100 km, 50 km and 21 km distances through rainforest and past waterfalls. Based at Mapleton. Run by Run Queensland, usually October.
  • Cobb & Co Backyard Ultra: a last-one-standing ultra at the Cobb & Co Nine Mile Camping Grounds near Gympie. Runners complete a 6.7 km loop every hour until only one is left. Run by Run Queensland, usually November.
  • Wild Earth Beerwah at Daybreak: a dawn trail run around the base of Mt Beerwah in the Glass House Mountains, with distances for beginners through to experienced runners. Run by Run Queensland, usually early December.
  • Wild Earth Resolution Run: a free New Year's Eve fun run and community carnival on the Gold Coast, with short distances and kids' races.

In the Raw, Border Bolt and Coastal High make up the Triple Crown series, run by Trail Trips & Events, with discounted entry for all three.

Upcoming events are listed at wildearth.com.au/view/events.

Sunset Slice Run Club

A monthly social trail run from our Burleigh Heads store, followed by pizza. Each month we partner with a different brand, so runners can try new footwear, gear and nutrition before they buy. Tickets are about $5, with proceeds going to Rainforest Rescue. Bookings are through Humanitix.
