Hiking to a Hidden Waterhole with the Lifesaver Water Bottle

I recently went on a little off-track hike chasing a waterhole in Northern Tasmania and I decided to take out my LifeSaver 6000 Ultra Water Filtration Bottle on the trail.

I recently went on a little off-track hike chasing a waterhole in Northern Tasmania. I decided to take out my LifeSaver 6000 Ultra Water Filtration Bottle on the trail. It was a good chance to put it to the test as I wasn’t sure about the water quality or if the creek would be running very high.

 

The trailhead began with some stairs up into the forest.

Then it was time to head off track in Search of the water hole

 

When I reached the first river I decided to fill up the Lifesaver bottle as the water was reasonably stagnant so filtering it was probably a good option… you never really know!

The Lifesaver Bottle is super easy to fill up. You just unscrew it at the bottom and quickly fill up the bottle in seconds and then it's ready to pump through its interior filter system. The photo above shows me filling it up in a little section of the river on the way to the waterhole. 

Once the Bottle is Full of water you simply pump the filter down all the way so it filters through the contents of the drink bottle and takes out bacteria to a minimum of Log 6 (99.9999%), viruses to a minimum of Log 4 (99.99%) and cysts to a minimum of Log 3 (99.9%) as specified by NSF Protocol 231, based on recommendations of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

 

 

My Lifesaver bottle is the 6000 model meaning it can store 750ml and filter up to 6000 Litres of Water before requiring a replacement filter system. I love that it can store the 750ml of Water as its a great capacity size.

After a couple of hours I reached the Waterhole! How cool?!

 

Always love hiking through Tasmania and finding cool spots like this one. Having this drink bottle is great for off track trips like this as you never know what water source you will come across but you can be confident from drinking from any natural sources such as ponds, lakes and rivers, to stay hydrated, whilst being protected from waterborne viruses, bacteria or cysts.

 

 

I really enjoyed using this bottle as it gives you a sense of reliability in drinking from all natural sources of water during adventures whether short or long.
