What’s your favourite trail? It’s a hard question to answer; most likely filled with too many options and perhaps some local bias. Nevertheless, we posed this query to professional ultra-runner, Anderson Moquiuti, and though he couldn’t pin it down to a single trail he shared some of his favourites.
Distance: 20.6km
Weaving its way through dense forest, Coomera Circuit showcases the incredible scenery and unique biodiversity of Binna Burra. The track takes you past countless waterfalls and ancient trees, leaving you bewildered as you track your way around this loop.
Distance: 16.1km
An interesting trail that is prime year-round, Warrie Circuit gives you a full dose of what Springbrook National Park is all about. Be sure to take a dip in one of the many swimming holes along the way, making this trail perfect for those hot summer days.
Distance: 15km One Way
As a world renowned trail, the natural beauty and dramatic landscapes of the Tarawera trail are whispered by runners around the globe. From steaming hot springs to lakeside forests, you may find your pace drop on this trial as you endeavour to take it all in!
The Tarawera Ultra Marathon is a great way to experience the area, with multiple race-lengths at 21km, 50km, 102km or the 100 Miler.
Distance: 19.3km
One of the best ways to experience Lamington National Park this circuit traverses the aptly named ‘Ship Stern’, far above Numinbah Valley. Wild flowers, moss covered rocks and trickling waterfalls provide the intrigued trail runners with an array of excitement.
Distance: 8.4km
A short detour with some ancient ecology. The Box Forest Circuit exposes you to some of Australia's oldest flora (1500 years old!), leaving you with something more than a trail but rather a run through natural history. Amongst the ripples and spray of this trail, runners may turn hikers as they stop to take in the lush forest and exposed waterfalls.
